SESSION 1: SEMINAR INTRODUCTION
Core Concepts
Promoting healthy hair and proper removal of braids, weaves, glue, and dreadlocks
● Challenges, risks and safety
● Cooperation and Communication
● States of Hair & Health.
The TAKE DOWN removal course is designed to expand and educate hair stylists on proper removal of braids, hair extensions, weaves, glue and dreadlocks. So many women are losing and damaging their hair when removing these hairstyles.
Many are becoming permanently bald as well.
SESSION 2 : BEAUTY AND HAIR TASK(S)
Course Goals and Description of Task
Most of our time in this class will be spent on removing braids, weaves, glue and dreadlocks; as well as discussing common problems and solutions to those problems. Stylist’s need to understand that there are short-and long-term consequences of improper removal of these hairstyles
*** There will be time spent on learning how to braid, sew-in weaving, and use fusion hair extensions.
Tasks Description: -To properly remove braids, weaves, glue and dreadlocks -To correct the hair of a client who has improperly removed their braids and weave -To realistically assess a clients natural hair
SESSION 3: HAIR REMOVAL PROCESS
Removal of Braids, Weaves, Hair Extensions, Fusion, Bonding Glue and Dreadlocks
Braid Removal
Soak Take Down removal cream on braids
Cut excess hair extensions up to natural hair length
Use metal rat-tail comb to remove braid extension and comb through hair
Do not shampoo –until hair is completely combed through and knot free.
Sew-in Weaving
Cut excess hair extension-by cutting the thread on the weft and corn roll braids
Soak corn roll braids with Take Down removal cream
Unravel corn roll braids and comb hair slowly (could be matted from lint and oil/shampoo build-up).
Bonding Glue & Fusion
Soak Take Down removal Cream on top of weft of hair extension and on roots of hair shaft
Make sure cream has soaked for 10 – 15 minutes, massage into weft and roots.
For bonding glue-remove hair extension from hair. For Fusion use heat gun to slide hair extension from hair.
Use rat tail comb to comb out residue and excess glue from hair before shampooing.
Dreadlocks (1-10) years
This process takes 20-45 mins to remove one lock. Cut off 1/4th of tip of each lock
Soak and massage Take Down Removal Cream on to 1 lock at a time-for 15 mins
Use metal tip rat tail comb to pick and then comb until dreadlock unravels
SESSION 4: HAIR ADDITION PROCESS
Sew-in weaving, Hair fusion, Braiding(tree braids, corn rolls, individuals)
********We will do as many examples as we can……..as long as time permits******
SESSION 5: EVALUATION- QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Class Evaluations & Surveys
This is very important, and actually my favorite class session time
We need to hear your questions and concerns
Each student/stylist should be ready and feel comfortable enough to service their clients and train others.
SESSION 6: CONCLUSION
